Fury Football

Last week we went to San Diego to see Kaden and his Fury football team in the NYS National Championship Tournament. It was so cool. Kaden's team, The Fury, played awesome and beat the three time defending champions of the tournament, along with another good team, the Hoyas, and made it all the way to the semi-finals before playing a 4 year undefeated club football team from Arizona. Kaden scored the first touchdown of the game, but we missed the extra point. Then the Blackhawks scored two touchdowns and one extra point so the score was 13-6. There was only a couple of minutes left in the game and we moved the ball all the way down to the 2 yard line. With 1 second left in the game, our quarterback Greg kept the ball and jumped over the defensive players and clearly scored...(we have video that shows his whole body crossing the goal line) but, the line ref said that he couldn't see, and so the three referees huddled and the ref that stood behind all of our players called it and said that our player didn't cross the line, "game over." What?! Our kids and the coaches were so upset!! I wish we could have thrown a challenge flag or that they would've reviewed the play and looked at the video...but no, the refs just hurried off the field. We still would have had to score the extra point to tie the game or a 2 point conversion to win, but they should have at least given the kids the chance to win or lose and not determine the game by a very, very bad call. Oh well, I'm certain it won't be the last bad call of Kaden's sports career...but wow, these kids can all really hold their heads high, they played GREAT!
Way to go FURY!

It sure looked like Kaden scored on this play, even though the ref didn't think he got the ball over... oh well, we scored on the next play anyway!

Now this is real summer fun!! I love this picture of Papa Jack taking Ally down the slide in "our" backyard. This backyard (Mom and Dad's) is the place where many precious memories were made and will be cherished forever. I can remember lots of summer days taking the kids over to Grami and Grandpa's to swim and spend the afternoon. Mom would always make yummy sandwiches, chips & dip, fresh cut up watermelon and hot homemade chocolate chip cookies or snickerdoodles. If we were really lucky, there would be homemade ice cream too. She would cuddle the kids up on her lap and tickle their backs when they were all tuckered out from swimming.
Perfect, perfect summer days.

Mini Vacation

Last week Taylor had a three day dance competition out at Lake Las Vegas and Jennie got a rediculously smokin' deal on Priceline at a hotel out there ($44)... so we took the kids and had a mini vacation for a couple of days.
It's pretty crazy how it felt like we really went out of town.
The kids had a blast and so did we!

Eagle Scout

Brock, our wonderful neighbor, and three other great young men from our church all received thier Eagle Scout awards a couple of weeks ago. It was so cool to be there.

Dad was the second Eagle Scout in Lincoln County... a long time ago.
He is always so proud that he can sit in the special Eagles Nest for all of the Eagle Scouts.

Each of the Eagle Scouts awarded what is called a "Mentor Pin" to someone they felt had encouraged them and been an example and helped them to earn their rank of Eagle Scout. When it was Brock's turn, he got up front and talked about someone who was very special to him and had really encouraged him and was someone he looked up to, and then called Jack Huntington up to receive his mentor pin. Dad cried...we were all so proud!
It was such a wonderful honor.

Kaden said, "Brock is a real role model isn't he?" Oh, yes he is!!!

Jennie was the cutest little dancer back in the day. She was so serious.

And look at Jennie's dancing girls through the years...Taylor and Kate

It's hard to believe that a couple of weeks ago was Taylor's 8th dance recital and Kate's 3rd.
Wow, they are growing up!

Special Dinner & Happy Father's Day too...

Our third annual dinner at Lawry's celebrating Mom's birthday was "excellante!" Dad loves that word (I don't even think it is a word). He used to embarrass me when he said "excellante!"...at Chinese restaurants, at the post office, at church, at musical productions, at the Krazy Buffet, etc.etc.etc. Now, I just chuckle when he says it. He's so cute.
We are beyond lucky that he is our wonderful dad. He misses Mom so much, but he just keeps on serving, working, giving and loving with all of his heart. Papa Jack is a.ma.zing!
Happy Father's Day Dad!!! We love you!
